Skin Rejuvenation; Platelet Rich Plasma (P.R.P.)

P.R.P. (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy involves injection of the patient’s own platelets and fibrin for the cosmetic treatment of wrinkles or scars in the face, hands, and neck. Platelets also contain substances called “growth factors” that activate and rejuvenate cells in our body. Platelets are the cells in the blood that help tissue to heal and grow new cells. The P.R.P., injected into specific areas of the skin, act as a matrix that promotes your own collagen to grow, regenerates tissue, and thus acts as to naturally smooth and tighten the skin. In this way, P.R.P. softens wrinkles and creating smoother skin texture and tone.It is less invasive than plastic surgery, takes about 20 minutes for each treatment, and offers improvements for up to 18 months.
This cutting-edge rejuvenation is a quick 20-minute procedure. After 9 cm3of blood (approximately 1 vial) is drawn from the patient, it is spun down in a centrifuge for 6 minutes at a precalculated speed to retrieve the most viable fibrin and platelets. After centrifugation, the platelet and fibrin component of the blood (the top layer) is extracted and reinjected into the area of concern. P.R.P. stimulates your own collagen to grow for total facial rejuvenation rather than individual wrinkle improvement.

The procedure takes a couple of hours, including preparation and recovery time. Performed safely in a Cosmed Clinic, P.R.P. (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy relieves pain without the risks of surgery, general anesthesia, or hospital stays and without a prolonged recovery. In fact, most people return to their jobs or usual activities right after the procedure.

The timeing of  procedure should be discussed between you and your doctor. Up to three injections may be given within a six-month time frame. However, a large number of people gain considerable to complete relief after the first or second injection.

The goal of P.R.P .skin rejuvenation therapy is to improve skin tone and texture, tighten skin, soften lines and pores. Results begin to show 3-4 weeks after the treatment session and continue to improve with time. Three treatment sessions are generally recommended, spaced 1-2 months apart, to achieve the best outcome.
